Overview
Hammerheads and Galapagos sharks patrol Roca Ballena on the first 45-minute dive. The second is a full circuit of the Carawa, a century-old wreck now covered by reef.
Check-in at the agency at 8:00 a.m., Muelle Acuario I at 8:15 a.m. to meet the dive instructor and set out.
First dive at Roca Ballena: about 45 minutes, maximum depth 18 meters, visibility 10 to 25 meters. Sea lions, rays, whitetip and blacktip sharks, hammerheads, Galapagos sharks, pufferfish, barracuda, tuna, turtles, sea urchins, starfish, moray eels, lobsters and octopus are possible. Snacks, drinks and about an hour of surface interval follow.
Twenty-five minutes away is Carawa, a ship that sank roughly a hundred years ago carrying goods to mainland Ecuador, now covered by a large reef. Divers descend a line, circle the wreck and return to it. This dive also runs about 45 minutes, at 12 to 16 meters.
Port around 1:00 p.m., depending on ocean conditions.

Good to know
Itinerary subject to change at the discretion of the Galapagos National Park and your dive instructor, depending on ocean conditions. Water temperature January to July 23 to 25 C, August to December 18 to 22 C. Surface interval of about one hour between dives. Bring sunscreen, cap, sunglasses, towels, water bottle and personal items. Divers with their own gear may leave it at the agency the day before.
